Brewer (Full-Time)

Department: Production

Overall Description: Maine Beer Company is dedicated to producing the best beer possible. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic to join our Production Department. First and foremost, the candidate must have a positive attitude and work well with others as a member of a small company. Position is full time and based in Freeport, Maine. Salary is dependent on experience. Excellent benefits package including fully paid health insurance, company sponsored dental insurance, 3 weeks paid vacation, 401k contributions, and more. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Quality and the Brewing Manager to ensure that high quality standards are met in wort production, centrifuge operations, cellaring, and other brewing processes.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and follow safe work practices.
  • Communicate any production equipment issues with the Brewing Manager.
  • Adhere to appropriate SOPs based on daily tasks as dictated by shift rotation.
  • Perform CIP operations.
  • Assist other production personnel as needed.
  • Assist the Engineering Department in routine maintenance of brewing and cellar equipment as needed.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks of brewing and cellar equipment and work areas as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Formal brewing education from an accredited brewing school or a minimum of two years in a production brewery setting preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
  • Experience with automation, centrifuge operations, and large brewhouses (50+ bbl) preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
  • Ability to multi-task while working safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to follow established SOPs and work with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs repeatedly and work standing for prolonged periods.
  • Has excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Has great attention to detail and takes initiative when necessary.
  • Is meticulous about sanitization and has an appreciation for keeping things clean and organized.
  • Schedule flexibility (e.g. able to work late when needed, able to accommodate changing/rotating schedules, work holidays).
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of complex machinery a plus.
  • Fork lift experience a plus.
  • High pressure boiler experience a plus.

Line Cook (Full or Part-Time)

Overall Description: 
The Line Cook at Maine Beer Company is responsible for creating and maintaining the highest quality food experience for all customers. Providing the best possible experience for every patron and abiding by the values of MBC are of the highest priority. The Line Cook reports directly to the Head Chef. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Stock and prepare stations for service of wood fired pizza and other food at Maine Beer Company
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness throughout shift
  • Abide by dress code applicable to food safety
  • Maintain communication with kitchen manager and other coworkers
  • Keep food service flow smooth and time sensitive
  • Cleaning and maintenance of all equipment used for food service at MBC
  • Perform daily opening and closing tasks as needed
  • Follow standard operating procedures for operating the pizza oven and all additional equipment
  • Keep up with prep dishes and make sure the dish pit is clean and organized.
  • Stock dry and perishable goods (rotate goods FIFO-first in first out)
  • Stock fire wood and assure woods stays dry
  • Always stay consistent with the mission of “Do what’s right.”

Qualifications:

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and cooperative work environment
  • Good communication and teamwork
  • Physical stamina to withstand a full shift on their feet
  • Pizza and wood-fired cooking experience a plus but willing to train the right candidate
