In the early 19th century, it became common in England to describe pale as "bitter," although by today's standards, these beers were not very bitter at all. Pub goers used the term to differentiate from its alternative, mild ales, which were far sweeter in comparison.
Our Special Bitter features 100% UK grown malt and West Yorkshire ale yeast. East Kent Golding, a quintessential English hop variety is combined with Amarillo and Cascade to provide a Pacific Northwest twist.
This recipe stemmed from Black Barn Program No. 02.
